Early Friday morning, Crossville police were dispatched to a residence on the 400 block of Dayton Avenue for a burglary. The resident said her apartment had been broken into sometime between 10 a.m. Thursday and 12:50 a.m. Friday. The woman reported her bed had been moved, a window screen was missing and there was a wood stick lying on the ground outside. The only thing she reported missing was $120 in singles kept in a cabinet above the stove. The woman said loose change and an empty coffee can (from which the bills were taken) were left out on the counter.

The victim identified two possible suspects who had both previously been in her apartment; she said both had inquired about her schedule and when she would either be gone or return home.

The responding police officer found the missing screen on the side of the house; he noticed the window was unlocked; the victim said she keeps it unlocked because she opens it regularly to smoke. No footprints were visible outside the window or inside the apartment. There were no prints on the window that could be lifted and no further evidence could be collected or documented.
