Crossville Police recently were involved in a hot pursuit which led them through the streets of the city, to Centennial Park, ending with a foot chase. An officer observed a vehicle with one headlight and no license tag light while traveling on Main St. When police attempted to stop the driver, the suspect continued on at a high rate of speed winding down Main, onto Old Jamestown Highway, and onto Industrial Blvd. The suspect then turned in to the park. The vehicle avoided a spike strip setup and swung around to the area of the Dog Park, where the car’s occupants exited on foot and into a wooded area. The driver, 29-year-old Billy Ray Rollins, was finally tackled and taken into custody, along with the passenger, 28-year-old Steven Tyler Moore. Rollins had a local failure-to-appear warrant, as well as several warrants from the commonwealth of Virginia, for which he will be extradited. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license, felony evading, and possession of marijuana. Moore was charged with evading arrest.
