The City of Kingston has voted to enter into a lawsuit against the Tennessee Valley Authority and Jacobs Engineering in regards to seeking additional punitive and compensatory damages from the coal ash spill of 2008. The City of Harriman and Roane County previously joined the lawsuit. The Kingston City Council decided to join the other two entities in the battle at an executive session earlier this week. A judge has granted the request of numerous workers who served on the cleanup crew and who have experienced health problems during and since that they could pursue the lawsuit. Recently, the TVA placed a single-page ad in the Roane County newspaper thanking it’s several contractors including Jacob’s Engineering.
