KINGSTON CITY COUNCIL VOTES TO JOIN ROANE COUNTY IN COAL ASH LAWSUIT

Kingston City Council members met in an executive session Tuesday night to discuss whether the city should join Roane County in their quest to pursue a lawsuit to seek damages from the effects of the TVA Kingston coal Ash spill which happened nearly a decade ago. Jacobs Engineering is the defendant in the case, and after a 35 minutemeeting, the council decided to join in the lawsuit. The companyreceived the contract to cleanup the spill site, but a Knoxvillejudge has ruled that those seeking compensation from health-relatedissues which were garnered by the work, will have their say in court.It’s unknown at this time whether the cities of Rockwood, Harrimanand Oliver Springs will also join.
