SRO WILL BE STATE FUNDED AT YORK INSTITUTE

///

The state will help fund the hiring of a School Resource Officer at York Institute in Fentress County. Approval was given for the state funding since the school is state-operated. County Mayor Jimmy Johnson said last week that the county had been footing the bill for the SRO service, but officials approved the state funding recently. He stated that the City of Jamestown and Board of Education is also assisting. The previous county commission had approved funding for all Fentress County schools. The price tag for an SRO is around $50,000. That covers the officer’s salary, training and equipment.
