Roane County Criminal Court Judge Jeff Wicks sentenced 44-year-old Jeremy Alexander Gambrell to three years unsupervised probation and diversion. Back in July, a jury found Gambrell guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but not guilty of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault for shooting and seriously injuring his then-wife. Diversion will allow him to have the conviction expunged from his record if he stays out of trouble while on probation. Gambrell is a former Lenoir City police officer.
