Months of work preparing a memorial to firefighters in Roane County was completed yesterday as officials unveiled it. The ceremony was held at Riverfront Park where the memorial and a commemorative bench is located. Captain Preston Hamby told 105.7 News that the memorial came together with the help of the city, businesses and citizens. The names of Harriman firefighters James “Bones” Lawson, James Brown and Gene Shubert are on the memorial as they lost their lives in the line of duty.
