Tennessee producers were able to contribute a large portion of the week to harvesting thanks to 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork. Reports indicate that some corn harvest is complete and nearing completion. Many welcome the cooler temperatures. Some report concerns of damage to crops and pasture due to recent rain. Yields are looking promising and winter animals are set to go out. Topsoil moisture rated 3 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 22 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture rated 5 percent short, 81 percent adequate, and 14 percent surplus.

Corn – Mature: 99 percent this week, 98 percent last week

Corn – Harvested: 88 percent this week, 79 percent last week

Cotton – Bolls Opening: 98 percent this week, 96 percent last week

Cotton – Harvested: 50 percent this week, 33 percent last week

Soybeans – Dropping Leaves: 90 percent this week, 83 percent last week

Soybeans – Harvested: 46 percent this week, 30 percent last week

Winter Wheat – Planted: 28 percent this week, 17 percent last week

Winter Wheat – Emerged: 14 percent this week, 9 percent last week

CROP CONDITIONS

Corn – 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 20 percent fair, 49 percent good and 27 percent excellent

Cotton – 5 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 48 percent good and 21 percent excellent

Pasture – 1 percent very poor, 10 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 49 percent good and 11 percent excellent

Soybeans – 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 46 percent good and 22 percent excellent

TEMPERATURE/RAINFALL

Crossville – 81 high, 41 low, average temperature 62. Total rainfall this year – 62.16 inches

Jamestown – 83 high, 38 low, average temperature 62. Total rainfall this year – 51.12 inches

Kingston – 87 high, 46 low, average temperature 68. Total rainfall this year – 55.78 inches
