KNOX ARRESTED AFTER THREATENING TO SHOOT CUSTOMERS AT ROANE CO. STORE

Late yesterday, Roane County deputies responded to the 4400 block of Kingston Highway at the Dollar General Store for a subject supposedly threatening to kill customers. Officers learned 35-year-old Joseph Derwood Knox wearing a backpack apparently threatened to shoot a man and his son in their vehicle in the parking lot. The man, who happened to be an off duty deputy, drew his firearm and ordered Knox to step away from his vehicle and to get on the ground. Knox instead walked toward the entrance of the business when the deputy identified himself to Knox and Knox complied with his orders. Knox was charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of assault.
