The Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce announced today they will sponsor a City Council/Mayoral Candidate Forum on the main stage of the Cumberland County Playhouse from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

This forum will be held the night before early voting starts for the November 6 election.

There is no charge and seating is on a first come-first serve basis.

Each candidate will be provided time at the start of the forum to introduce themselves and make a few opening remarks. They will also be given time at the end for closing remarks. Since there are a total of eight candidates who are running, the candidates’ responses to questions will be required to be brief and will be timed.

For the office of Crossville mayor, incumbent James Mayberry will be challenged by current city councilman Danny Wyatt.

For city council, incumbent Pamela Harris will not seek re-election and Wyatt is running for mayor. Six people will run and the two that receives the most votes will fill the seats. The ones running include Art Gernt, Rob Harrison, Sadie Hoover, Ralph Reagan, Virgil Thompson and former city councilman Jessie Kerley.

Early voting will run October 17 through November 1 for the November 6, 2018 election.

The remaining city council members, J.H. Graham III and Scot Shanks, will remain on the council until December 2020.
