A nine-year-old fourth grader from Farragut, Tennessee says she wants to be an alderman.
Lauren Leilani Johns actually applied after the seat was left vacant back in August, when Ron Williams was sworn in as mayor.
However, she appears to have hit a road block.
The town’s charter and code of ordinances do not set age restrictions on elected aldermen but a state code set a minimum age for municipal legislators at age 18.
The new alderman will be appointed at the September 27.
