A two vehicle accident on Highway 70 in Kingston today claimed the life of an elderly female after the car she was driving went into the water at Kingston City Park. One vehicle exiting Patton Ferry Road onto Highway 70, struck the elderly woman’s car in the side causing her to run into the parking lot at the gravel pit jumping several curbs and crashed into the water. The vehicle came to rest some 15 feet below the surface. Numerous attempts from many people, including a couple of inmates working at the park, to get her out of the car were unsuccessful. The names of those involved were not released by the highway patrol as of 5 p.m. eastern today. Two others were injured in the crash.
