Knox County deputies have taken an unidentified 13-year-old boy into custody at the Knox County Juvenile Detention Center after he allegedly shot 63-year-old Janice Inman in the stomach last evening around 6. The boy and his 16-year-old brother were said to have been target shooting with a .22 rifle in their backyard on Hammer Road in East Knoxville, and were not using what investigators termed an appropriate backstop. Inman, who was driving a golf cart on the 7000 block of Hammer Road, on her way to a relative’s home nearby, was apparently inadvertently struck  by a round that got through the trees into which the teens were shooting. Inman was taken to U.T. Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound and is expected to recover. A Knox County Sheriff’s Department spokesman says the teen’s hearing would be held within the next 72 hours.
