Memorial Day services were held today in cities across the listening area. In Crossville, a large crowd turned out for the ceremony held downtown on Main Street. The Cumberland County Community Band played patriotic selections prior to the service, which started early because of rain in the area. The Vietnam Veterans of American Honor Guard posted the colors. East Tennessee Regional Director of the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs Patrick Rice was the special guest speaker. Recognition of passing veterans was highlighted and the ceremony ended with the playing of “Taps.”
