U.S. AND CONFEDERATE FLAGS ON DISPLAY TO MARK MEMORIAL DAY IN CROSSVILLE

Drivers along South Main Street in Crossville will notice a display of U.S. and Confederate flags on the lawn in front of the veterans’ monument. The flags were put up by members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans – one to commemorate each soldier killed in battle – to mark both United States and Confederate Memorial Day observances. The flags will remain up through June 4.

Incredibly ignorant response. See Joe Wheeler in Spanish American war. First General killed in WWII, a descendant of TJ Jackson. The South has outproduced every other region of the country in adding to the servicemen and officers. As a proud descendant of four confederate veterans and father and grandfather who served in the Navy in WWII, Memorial Day celebrates all their service. Not to mention Confederate veterans are American vets, my great great grandfather has a headstone paid for ivy the US government.

These two flags stand for the SAME thing. They both honor AMERICAN veterans who lost their lives !! The Confederate States OF AMERICA and The United States OF AMERICA..

How can you profess to love America while honoring the men that wanted to leave America so bad they waged war on the country?

Lincoln waged a war against the Southern states to collect revenue. The Southern states seceded to form their own independent government; they wanted no part of Lincoln’s anti-Constitutional/pro-totalitarian government. All the Southern states wanted was to be left alone. Take your Socialist preaching elsewhere…no one in Crossville is listening to Socialists.

Agreed. The Confederates wanting to kill American soldiers. Why are we honoring them?

No, Greg it represents both sides and all American Civil War veterans, Confederate and Union. Chill out with the politics for one day so ALL can honor the dead.

Why not place a Japanese flag next to the Confederate flags? They killed American Soldiers too. Why are we honoring traitors to our country?
