ROANE COUNTY MAN INDICTED FOR TWO COUNTS OF VEHICLE HOMICIDE

A Roane County man has been indicted by a grand jury stemming from a deadly vehicle accident in 2016. Court documents state 33-year-old Jeffrey Daniel Walters of Rockwood is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment with a weapon. The incident happened when 82-year-old Henry Grandon Howard of Casselberry, Florida, pulled over his vehicle on Highway 27 to use his cell when his car was struck from behind by a 2005 Dodge pickup driven by Walters. Howard was killed and his passenger, 85-year-old Fujiko Howard, was injured in the crash. Walters was served the indictments yesterday and taken to the Roane County jail. Walters is set to be arraigned in criminal court June 25, 2018.
