Two people were found dead inside a home in Blount County yesterday afternoon in the Laurel Valley area. Officers responded to a residence on Kelly Ridge Circle in regard to a man who reportedly barricaded himself in the home. Members of the SWAT and crisis-negotiation teams responded to the scene. After attempting negotiations with the residents, the response teams entered the house and found the bodies of 69-year-old Kenneth Allan Jacobs and 59-year-old Melinda Howes Jacobs. Authorities say Kenneth Jacobs was the director of the composition program at the University of Tennessee School of Music and Melinda Jacobs was an attorney. An autopsy is scheduled for today. The incident is under investigation.
