An elderly Anderson County man was struck and killed by a vehicle yesterday. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says 75-year-old Curtis Byrge of Clinton was walking west on Oliver Springs Highway when he turned to cross the highway. Byrge walked into the path of an oncoming 1990 Ford truck driven by 62-year-old George Davis of Harriman. Troopers say Davis tried to stop the truck, but he could not stop or swerve, and hit Byrge. Byrge was taken to Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, where he died from his injuries. Davis was not injured.
