Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper Joshua Malone, 24, is recovering after a Saturday-morning crash on Interstate 24 in Coffee County, reports say. The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes at mile marker 112 when a semi-truck hit the trooper’s patrol car, and reportedly also struck a Coffee County patrol vehicle. Both Trooper Malone and the unidentified deputy whose vehicle was hit were taken to area hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Malone reportedly suffered cuts and abrasions in the incident. A passenger in the semi, described as a “co-driver” of the rig, was also taken to the hospital, according to reports.

A spokesman for THP said lane closures were expected to be “lengthy” during the investigation and cleanup and advises drivers to use caution when traveling near the crash site.
