MULTIPLE INJURIES REPORTED IN HEAD-ON VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN PUTNAM COUNTY

Troopers say multiple injuries resulted from a head-on collision in Putnam County yesterday on State Route 136 at Waterloo Road. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 57-year-old Mary Freeman of Cookeville was attempting to turn left onto Waterloo Road from the highway when it was hit by a Chevrolet Impala driven by 41-year-old Chasitie King of Hilham. King was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. Two passengers in King’s vehicle, 46-year-old Tracy Allen and 71-year-old George Knauer, also sustained injuries. A 13-year-old and 9-year-old in Freeman’s vehicle were flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. The accident is under investigation.
