A trial is underway in Rhea County for a man charged with the September 2016 hit-and-run death of a Dayton thrift store employee. Officers say 54-year-old Douglas Alvey is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Walter Hale, an employee at the We Care Thrift Store. Prosecutors say Alvey ran over Hale with his car and left the scene. A Sequatchie County jury is hearing the case and will be sequestered for the trial.
