The Cumberland County Relay for Life held a free cancer survivors and caregivers brunch today at the community complex. Approximately 150 people turned out for the event to enjoy great food and fellowship. Those who attended shared stories of survival and remembered those lost to cancer. The event is part of several leading up to the annual Relay for Life coming up in June. The next event for the Cumberland County Relay for Life will be the “Hee Haw III” Variety Show at the Palace Theatre Friday, April 27, 2018, starting at 6:30 p.m. Central. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door the day of the event. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Cumberland County Relay for Life. The main annual event will be Friday, June 1, 2018, from 4 to 10 p.m. in downtown Crossville on the old courthouse lawn. A special cancer-survivors’ parking area will be available at the corner of Thurman and East Second streets. The special parking area will be marked, and volunteers will be on hand to assist and help with golf-cart transit for those needing assistance to the main area. Relay for Life is the ultimate team fundraiser for the American Cancer Society that brings communities together to fight cancer. It is an opportunity to remember loved ones lost and honor survivors of all cancers. Community members, cancer survivors and their caregivers are encouraged to come together and unite in support of cancer research.
