A combined investigation into drug trafficking resulted in three arrests in Putnam County. Agents conducted a surveillance at a hotel on Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville. While the surveillance was ongoing, officers say 32-year-old Billy White of Cookeville was in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, and a large amount of cash. A search of the room in which White was staying was subsequently executed; officers found a large quantity of processed marijuana, scales, packaging material, a loaded handgun and a rifle. White was charged with possession of Schedule II, III and VI drugs for resale, introduction of contraband in a penal facility and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Two others were arrested at the scene. Officers say 38-year-old Kenneth Bayless of Spencer was charged with the sale or delivery of a Schedule II drug for resale and 25-year-old Sharlinda Turner of Rock Island was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.
