The Crossville Police Department announced today the newest member of their school resource officer (SRO) team. Patrol Officer Scott VanRuden has been selected to fill the position, newly created by the Crossville City Council, which will assign an SRO to the Phoenix School. The addition brings the total number of school resource officers, assigned to schools within the City of Crossville, to four. Patrol Officer VanRuden has been employed by the Crossville Police Department since 2012 and, in addition to attending several advanced training classes, has received the approved training required to serve as a school resource officer. We now have a full-time, certified police officer in each of the schools in the city,” said Crossville Police Chief David Beaty. “This enhances our level of security for all students, staff and faculty members.”
