KENTUCKY SURVIVES TENNESSEE RALLY TO WIN SEC CHAMPIONSHIP

The Kentucky Wildcats won their conference-leading 31st SEC Tournament yesterday defeating Tennessee 77-72. Kentucky led by as many as 17 in the first half before the Volunteers rallied to make it a five-point halftime deficit. The Volunteers were able to shrink the Wildcats lead to one before Kentucky pulled away in the last minute. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 29 while Knox scored 18. Admiral Schofield led the scoring for Tennessee with 20. Tennessee had won the first two regular season matchups against Kentucky before the tournament final. Kentucky defeated Georgia and Alabama on its way to the SEC final. This is Kentucky’s fourth straight SEC Tournament championship. Florida was the last team to win the conference tournament when the Gators beat Kentucky 61-60 in 2014.
