MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING OFFICERS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

A Bledsoe County man is facing charges in Cumberland County after reportedly being in possession of a stolen vehicle. Deputies recently responded to an area on Brewer Road in the southern part of the county where 40-year-old Nathan Bruce Bayless of Pikeville was allegedly seen running from a Jeep towards a home. Officers ran a check of the vehicle and came back stolen out of Bledsoe County. Bayless was taken into custody and while being put into the patrol cruiser, allegedly struck one officer in the leg and another in the face. According to the report, Bayless was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest. Bayless was charged with theft of property and two counts of assault of an officer.
