Six different area school incidents in the past 24 hours resulted in five arrests for making threats against schools. In Meigs County, a student was arrested early this morning for a violent threat posted on social media. Bradley County officers arrested three juveniles late last night over a social media threat against Bradley Central High School. The Bradley County Sheriff’s Department sent out their appreciation to the students who came forward with the information that led to the arrests of the three students. The McMinn County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a threat made early this morning against McMinn County High School. In Monroe County, a BB gun was seized at Sequoyah High School this morning in Madisonville. Administrators immediately addressed the situation and at no time were any students in danger. Cocke County deputies arrested a 14-year-old juvenile last night who allegedly had a “kill list” detailing plans to shoot specific students at Edgemont Elementary School. That student appeared in a juvenile court this morning and was ordered to stay off school property and homeschooling was recommended by the judge. Finally, a private school in Sweetwater went on lockdown yesterday after a phone threat was called to the facility. Authorities are taking any threat seriously and will prosecute cases of these nature.
