The Tennessee Dept. of Transportation is preparing for a huge paving job in Pigeon Forge. According to businesses along the Parkway, the road has needed resurfacing for sometime. The repairs are scheduled to begin in April. Although the area is known for heavy traffic during Spring Break, city officials say that times for the repaving have been coordinated to make the road work easier for everyone. TDOT will be working on the road from 10 PM in the evening to 6 AM Sunday through Thursday. State and federal governments will pick up the tab for the project, which will upgrade all six lanes on the Parkway. That’s a total of 21 lane miles to be finished. As of early February, officials have not released a definite cost estimate for the work. The project was planned to take place from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance to Community Center Drive.
