December 2017 unemployment rates in Tennessee counties showed increases and decreases. The seasonally adjusted rate for the state remained the same from November to December at 4.1 percent. In Cumberland County, unemployment numbers for December rose slightly from 3.9 to 4.1 percent. In Roane County, December unemployment dropped slightly from 3.8 to 3.6. 77 counties saw decreases while 7 counties saw an increase in unemployment for December. 11 counties remained the same. Williamson County continued to post the lowest unemployment at 2.2 percent while Rhea County has the highest rate at 5.6 percent.
