The Cookeville Police Department responded to North Maple Avenue early yesterday morning in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Officers say a 2016 Cadillac driven by 32-year-old John Hancock of Cookeville left the roadway while traveling southbound on North Maple Avenue. The vehicle crashed into an apartment building at 225 North Maple Avenue. The passengers in the vehicle, 27-year-old Kurt Hanifan of Cookeville and 25-year-old Kole Hanifan of Cookeville, and Hancock were all transported to the Cookeville Regional Medical Center where they were treated for injuries sustained. Because of severe damage to the apartment building, all occupants were evacuated. The electricity and gas service were disconnected as a precaution.
