The City of Crossville has a new City Clerk. Valerie Hale was sworn in at the city council’s monthly meeting earlier this week by City Mayor James Mayberry. Hale has been the assistant to former city clerk Sally Oglesby since 2010. The City Council also approved the hiring of a fraud detective. Police Chief David Beaty brought the request for the position to the council earlier this month stating that the department has enough scam and fraudulent credit card cases to warrant the part-time position. Beaty said that a former law enforcement officer with such experience has expressed interest in the job. The council approved the motion at a salary of $19,000. The council also approved a change order for 2017 Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements and approved a submittal of an application for funding of a 2018 CDBG project
