Cumberland County and Crossville Authorities working alongside state and federal task forces were able to confiscate several pounds of drugs, an airplane and two suspects at the Crossville Memorial Airport late Thursday afternoon. Sheriff Casey Cox told 1057 News that a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Dept. FBI Task Force Officer notified local authorities, the Appalachia High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HDTA) and the TBI that a suspicious plane was arriving at the airport around 5:30 PM. Sheriff Cox said that because of the information given, law enforcement agents were able to confiscate 90 pounds of medical-grade marijuana on the plane which had an estimated street value of $450,000. The plane was confiscated and a male and female were taken into custody. No names were released. Sheriff Cox said that “this was the way that task forces are supposed to work.” He said that the sheriff’s department worked in conjunction with Crossville Police, AHDTA, the TBI and FBI.
