Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate continues below the national average. The rate in November for the Volunteer State was 3.1 percent, 2 percent lower than the national average jobless rate of 4.1. Tennessee’s rate for November was also 2 percentage points lower than what it was at the same time last year. Although last month’s statewide rate was slightly higher than the previous month, officials say unemployment in Tennessee remains historically low. They say the state jobless rate reached 3 percent in both September and October, the lowest level since the government began tracking the rates in 1976.
