A tense situation was averted early Thursday morning at the Crossville Waffle House. According to sources, about 3 AM, a male subject, approximately 18-years-of-age, armed with a handgun, threatened three staff members and two patrons. According to reports, another male subject, who was allegedly a relative of the suspect, was able to get inside the business and phone police. Witnesses said that the staff locked the restaurant’s doors and moved everyone into a bathroom. Police arrived as the suspect, whose name has not been revealed, began striking the building’s windows. Officers were able to take the man to the ground and disarm him. He was taken into custody and is reportedly undergoing mental evaluation. No one was injured in the incident which is still under investigation.
