EARLY MORNING FIRE HEAVILY DAMAGES HOME

A structure fire early this morning (Friday, December 15, 2017) in McMinn County heavily damaged a home on County Road 266 near Niota. Fire and rescue crews went to the scene to see the residence engulfed in flames. Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire. A neighbor reportedly saved dogs that were at the residence but one cat did not make it out. A cause of the fire has not been determined.
