17-YEAR-OLD BOY FATALLY SHOT IN HOME INVASION

Nashville/Metro Authorities say that a 17-year-old boy was shot and killed while trying to protect his family. The home invasion incident happened late Tuesday night at the J. Henry Apartments in the 1000 block of Capital Point. According to the report, the boy, his mother, stepfather and grandfather were asleep when the door was kicked in by two black men who then demanded that the family line up in the hall. Investigators believe that the teen attempted to interfere. He was then allegedly separated from the others, taken into a back room and shot in the chest. The boy, who has not been identified, later died at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Meanwhile the stepfather was beaten with a gun. It’s believed that the family had been targeted by the suspects, but investigators have since said that the suspects may have chosen the wrong house. So far, no evidence has linked the suspects to the family.
