Road crews continue to work on projects in Cumberland County. Near mile marker 326 on Interstate 40 westbound, work continues to add a truck lane up the hill. The right shoulder will be closed for the duration of the project. Officials say both retaining walls are complete and grade work activities are in progress. Temporary closures will only be allowed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. The estimated completion date is June 2018. The much larger project involves the widening of Peavine Road from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Road. Storm drain installation, box culvert construction, utility relocation, and grade work activities are in progress. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages will be needed to set portable barrier rail and other grade work activities. Motorists should be alert for construction personnel and equipment along Peavine Road. The estimated time of completion is November 2020.
