A theft ring seems to be working the old bait and switch game at regional businesses in the Upper Cumberlands. Crossville Police were called to Tractor Supply for the report of unidentified subjects returning a sump pump for the amount of $381.49. The item was later discovered to have been taken from a Tractor Supply in Lenoir City. According to the report, one of the suspects then walked to the electric motor aisle, took a motor worth $279.99 and returned it to the front for a refund without paying for it. Another motor taken from the Crossville store tried to be returned to the Cookeville Tractor Supply store soon afterward. No further information was listed on the report.
