Shoppers beware! It’s Thanksgiving and Christmas… the time of year when thieves and pick-pockets are out to deprive you of your hard-earned cash. Shoplifters are everywhere as one Crossville woman learned while at Walmart recently. The victim’s wallet was stolen out of her purse while it set in her shopping buggy. Police say that the suspect, identified as Justin Dean Johnson of Crossville, was observed on store surveillance following the female around the store for several minutes until he saw that she was distracted. He was then observed grabbing the pink wallet and concealing it under the hoodie he was wearing. The suspect was then observed leaving the scene in a maroon-colored vehicle. A check of Johnson’s Facebook page revealed the suspect wearing the same blue and black converse hat that he was wearing in the surveillance video. The vehicle’s tag number was traced to a Layken Lane residence where contact was later made with Johnson. Johnson failed to give up the location of the wallet, which contained several hundred dollars, credit cards and ID, to officers. He was arrested and charged with theft of property. He was also banned from Walmart.
