Small business owner Angela Hedgecough today formally announced her candidacy for the Tennessee State Senate from the 15th district which includes Cumberland, Overton, Jackson, Bledsoe and White counties. Hedgecough says her campaign will focus on the three primary issues: Jobs, Schools, and Healthcare.
“We need a state Senator who will fight every single day to bring good jobs to our area,” Hedgecough said. “As a small business owner, I understand what it takes to create jobs and I understand how to build the conditions that encourage job creation. While much of Tennessee is prospering, rural areas like ours are in danger of being left behind. I won’t let that happen.
Hedgecough said supporting excellent public schools and providing access to quality, affordable healthcare are critical to job creation and economic development.
“Our schools are the lifeblood of our communities,” Hedgecough said. “As a mother and grandmother, I’ll work to ensure the schools in our area receive the support they deserve from the state. Our kids are counting on us to lead.
“It is also absolutely critical that we work to address access to healthcare. As a business owner, I know how important it is to be able to provide affordable healthcare to those who work with you. We need a senator who will work toward positive, bipartisan solutions.
Hedgecough co-owns Hedgecough Wrecker with her husband. She is the mother of two children and the grandmother of three. In addition to her years of experience as a small business owner, Hedgecough previously worked as a corrections officer.
