TENNESSEE REPRESENTATIVE WANTS TO PULL FUNDING FOR PROFESSIONAL TEAMS IN WAKE OF PROTESTS

A Tennessee lawmaker wants the state to pull funding for professional teams in the wake of protests over the national anthem. Representative Judd Matheny, who is also running for Congress, said he wants to stop items like government bonds, tax breaks and land giveaways for teams. Under the bill, Matheny says teams will have to buy land with their own money and pay taxes like everyone else. The proposed bill comes after President Donald Trump’s comments concerning the disrespect NFL players had given the National Anthem Friday in Huntsville. At the start of Sunday’s Titans/Seahawk’s game, both teams stayed in their locker rooms for the national anthem.
