TBI INVESTIGATING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN ROANE COUNTY

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting that took place just before 10 a.m. this morning (Saturday, September 16, 2017) in Roane County. Deputies went to a home at 352 Mays Valley Road for a reported domestic disturbance. Officers say 47-year-old David L. Daugherty brandished an alleged firearm at a another man at the scene following an argument. When deputies arrived, Daugherty reportedly ran towards a wooded area and was ordered to stop by officers. Daugherty allegedly stopped and pointed his gun at officers. That is when deputies opened fire on Daugherty. He was transported by Lifestar to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment fo multiple gunshot wounds. The investigative division of the 9th District Attorney General’s Office is assisting TBI in the investigation. No officers were injured in the incident. More information regarding the shooting will be released at a later time.
