A man was arrested after allegedly lying to police about a hostage situation in Cookeville today (Wednesday, September 6, 2017). Officers say 47-year-old Jerry Lane Jr. allegedly told employees at the Key West Inn that there was a man holding people hostage inside one of the rooms. Officers searched the room this morning but did not find anyone inside. Lane is charged with felony filing a false report to police. Lane was taken to the Putnam County jail and initially placed under a $20,000 bond.
