A woman working at the Cumberland County Rescue Squad headquarters Friday afternoon was the victim of a freak accident. According to reports, the female, whose name was not revealed, was making candy apples for the fair around 1 PM when the machine exploded. The woman received burns to her face, arms, and hands. Attempts to bring in a medical helicopter to fly her to an area hospital failed due to bad weather. EMS transported the victim to Cumberland Medical Center where she was stabilized and later taken to the burn unit at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Her condition is unknown.
