Many residents of Roane County and the surrounding area came out to Roane County Park yesterday for a community outreach and recruitment fun day held by the fire departments in the county. Blair, East Roane County, Midtown Fire, South Roane, Roane County Rescue Squad, Roane County Emergency Management, Rockwood City Fire, West Roane County as well as a safety trailer from the Knoxville Fire Department all participated in the event. A kids zone with two bounce houses, games and a dunking booth were featured. Firefighters also gave children and adults tours of fire trucks and displayed apparatus used by them. A chilli cook off was held and free BBQ was served at noon to all that attended.
