HIGH SPEED CHASE IN TWO COUNTIES LEADS TO ARREST

A Putnam County, Tennessee man is facing several charges after engaging police in a high-speed chase this morning (Monday, July 17, 2017). According to the police report, a Cookeville police officer observed a Chevrolet Impala driven by Darryl Vantrease of Baxter going northbound in a southbound lane of Highway 111. When the officer tried to stop Vantrease, it nearly resulted in a head-on collision. Authorities were able to stop Vantrease on the highway in White County after spike strips were deployed. Vantrease was arrested and transported to the Putnam County jail. He was charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, DUI and violation of the implied consent law.
