HIKER DIES FROM CARDIAC ARREST WHILE IN THE SMOKIES

A man has died from medical complications during a hiking trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Park Ranger received a call Saturday morning around 10 AM that a man was in cardiac arrest on Alum Cave Trail. The man was identified as 47-year-old Philip Davenport of Nashville, who had been staying at Mt. Le Conte Lodge. He collapsed about three miles from the beginning of the trail and was pronounced dead an hour later.
