MURFREESBORO MOSQUE CONTINUES TO SEE CONTROVERSY AND VANDALISM

A Middle Tennessee mosque which has been the center of controversy for several years has been defaced again. Officials at the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro say that overnight, someone spray-painted obscenities on a side door. Painted messages were also found on the back of the building and a basketball court located outside. Bacon was also discovered wrapped around an exterior door. Muslims do not eat pork. After months of discontent from residents in the area, a judge approved the construction of the mosque in May of 2010. After an unsuccessful lawsuit was filed by opponents to stop the project, the building finally opened its’ doors in August 2012.
