Three people were injured in a houseboat fire and explosion on Lake Cumberland last night (Saturday, July 8, 2017). The Kentucky State Police responded to the fire at Difficulty Creek on Lake Cumberland, right on the edge of Wayne County. Officers say there was an explosion leading up to the fire. Troopers say one boat stopped to help with filling gasoline and someone was smoking which may have been a factor. Officers say two people were flown to the hospital for burns while a third was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. It is not clear though if people on the boat or bystanders were injured. The Army Corps of Engineers is helping out with the investigation. The names of those injured were not released by authorities as of this morning (Sunday, July 9, 2017).
