STATE CAPITAL EVACUATED AFTER SMALL FIRE

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol say that the State Capital had to be evacuated as a precautionary measure after a small fire broke out in the midst of construction. The fire occurred Monday afternoon in the new access tunnel. The blaze was extinguished and many of employees had already left for the day. Those that remained were cleared out at the time. Metro Fire is investigating the cause of the incident.
